Grade Determination



How do I earn my grade in Chemistry?

  1. Homework - Worth 10 points per chapter.
  2. Activities/labs - Worth 20 points.
  3. Quizzes - Worth 25-40 points
  4. Spelling Quizzes - Worth 10-30 points.
  5. Tests - Each test will range from 50-90 points.
  6. Tests/Quizzes are given after each chapter/section and can cover all previously covered material.
    Tests can be retaken - but retake test is the grade that will count.
     Test retakes are only during AES. Usually the next AES date after the test is scheduled. It is your responsibility to make sure you are free for the AES date. No retake will be given after AES date.
  7. Your Science notebook will be turned in each midterm. 
    (Paper version) - To receive the full credit you must have:
    Your name must be on the binder of the notebook and the class name must be on the front of the notebook.
    A table of contents (with page numbers), tabbed divisions for all notes and worksheets/Sets or other information
    (Electronic version) - To receive the full credit you must have:
    Your name, your picture, and class name must be on the cover page of the notebook.
    A table of contents (with page numbers)
    A preface that includes student responsibilities, grade determination, and lab safety information
    Section divisions for all notes, worksheets/Sets, and graded labs
    Glossary of vocabulary terms

  8. Semester Test will cover all material covered in the semester and will be worth 1/5 of semester grade.

  1. Homework - Each assignment will be worth 5 points.
  2. Tests - Each test will range from 25-50 points.
  3. Tests are given after 4 new lessons and will cover all previously covered material.
    Tests can be retaken - but retake test is the grade that will count.
     Test retakes are only during AES. Usually the next AES date after the test is scheduled. It is your responsibility to make sure you are free for the AES date. No retake will be given after AES date.
