5th annual 4th grade trip to Southwest Livestock happened today! The students had a blast bidding on cattle for Adam and Kim Lowery. 4th graders were spoiled by Adam and Kim (once again) with Jimmy John sandwiches, sugar cookies, and a bag full of goodies! Tomorrow, the class will use their math skills with the sale papers that were provided after the sale. The class brought their own money to buy a snack at McDonalds. After their snack. They played at Wright Park.

A community meeting pertaining to the possible consolidation of USD 371 & USD 476 will be at 7:00 p.m. tonight at the Montezuma gymnasium commons.
There will be high school track practice Monday, April 21st at 4:00 p.m.
The last two weeks Montezuma's 4th graders learned an old skill of writing a friendly letter. They learned how a friendly letter is formatted and how to address an envelope. They picked two people to write a letter to. The second person they wrote was a letter they mailed. Kelli Kinnamon helped the students use the stamp machine at the school to get it ready to mail. On Wednesday, April 16th the 4th graders walked to the local post office to mail the letter and was able to tour the post office. Gail and Alisha showed them around the post office and gave some great information. They even let the students put a flier in all the mailboxes! This was a great learning opportunity that allowed the students to see how the post office works and also to see what the postal worker does. The students were told, "you never know... you might want to be a postal worker someday." 😁
Due to high winds tomorrow, the pole vault at the Spearville High School track meet has been cancelled.

Montezuma Elementary!
Tomorrow (Thurs. 4/17/25) is Brain Games! Come join us in the new gym if you'd like. Check the list of teams to know when your child will compete. As noted, for each session, we will start with kindergarten and end with 5th grade. Each class will start immediately after the class before them finishes, so, with the exception of kindergarten, it's impossible to say what time each class will start. It would be wise to be seated in the gym a few minutes prior to the start of each session. (9:00, 10:00 & 1:00) Let the Brain Games begin!....tomorrow :)

Your kids are working on their track & field skills this week (weather permitting) during PE. Please help set them up for successful practices by ensuring that they wear outside tennis shoes to school, or pack a pair in their backpack to put on before PE. Their PE shoes are not worn outside.
