Montezuma 4th graders traveled to Dodge City today to visit Southwest Livestock Ag. We want to thank Adam and Kim Lowery for hosting one of the best field trips. When we first started this field trip, 4 years ago, I told Adam and Kim to focus on what math they use in their business. Every year, the students find out there is a lot of math used from weighing cattle to buying and selling the cattle and everything in between. After the learning part of the field trip, the 4th graders found out what they could buy for five dollars at McDonalds then went to Wright Park for some play time. A huge thank you to Sharris Koehn for taking us to Dodge City and administration for allowing us to go.

The South Gray High School track team will NOT be attending the Haskell County Relays on Tuesday, April 23rd. A select few who have missed track meets may attend, but the team as a whole is not attending. Just wanted parents to be aware since this meet is listed on the school calendar. Thanks! Jill Deges
We are still hosting the HS track meet tomorrow. Not having school tomorrow will make it a little harder for the JH students to get to the track and fulfill their obligation to help with the field events. We will still have the bus leaving Copeland at 2:15 tomorrow and departing Montezuma at 5:45 to bring them back to Copeland. It is imperative that if at all possible the JH kids get here to help. Without them we can't run this meet off. The HS students help with the JH meet and the JH students help with the HS meet. This is the only way we can host track meets. I have included below the assignments for the students. Please get them here, thank you

Congratulations to Mrs. Emily Miller on being awarded this month's USD 476 Red Apple Award Recipient. She has been an outstanding addition to our staff as 2nd grade teacher. Mrs. Miller exhibits exemplary professionalism, provides a caring and nurturing learning environment for her students, and is always positive and collaborative with her colleagues. As a South Gray graduate herself, Mrs. Miller knows what it means to be a Rebel and models that excellence to everyone around her! Congratulations Mrs. Miller on a great 1st year in our district! 🍎

The high school track meet scheduled that afternoon in Montezuma will be held as scheduled. Thank you for understanding and continued prayers for Chris, Tamee, Brayden, Madi and the Cole Family.

Order of Events

Junior High Track will travel to Moscow tomorrow (4/16) and Bucklin on Thursday (4/18). ***Edit to add: Both meets will begin at 3:00pm***

Montezuma 4th Grade students learned how to write a friendly letter this week and also learned how to write addresses. Mrs. Kelli taught us how to use the school's stamp machine. This afternoon they walked to the post office to mail their letter. The post office workers let us see the whole process of how the mail gets sorted, they saw our town student's boxes, and they even helped load the outgoing mail on the truck. This was a great learning opportunity for the 4th graders!

A BIG thank you to the guys at NextEra Energy for showing the 4th grade students around today! They have been learning about alternative energy sources in class and got the opportunity to go hear from the experts.
